Shawn Medero

Chief Technology Officer, Experience Based Learning Systems, LLC

Shawn Medero is the CTO of Experience Based Learning Systems (EBLS). As CTO of EBLS, he overseas the strategic technology vision for EBLS, leads projects to integrate EBLS products & data with our partners, and ensures compliance with global data privacy and security legislation.

Prior to joining EBLS, Shawn was the Solutions Architect for the Office of Research Information Services (ORIS) at the University of Washington helping 1000s of principal investigators and their staff deliver cutting edge research by ensuring compliance and reducing research administration burden. He built and led the first user experience team at ORIS with the purpose of building shared understanding of how researchers performed their day-to-day work.

Shawn’s first encounter with Experiential Learning Theory was as part of the product team which first brought the Kolb Learning Style Inventory from paper to digital screens while working for the Hay Group.

Shawn has previously written articles about user interface prototyping techniques for outlets such as A List Apart, coordinated issue tracking for the HTML5 Working Group at the World Wide Web Consortium, and contributed to published research about user interface patterns for linguistic annotation software and search engine query interfaces.

Outside of work, Shawn is deeply passionate about improving mobility access and accessibility at the local level by improving bicycle infrastructure, pedestrian safety, and transit facilities.
